SSC: What's cooking?

I like to sometimes join the challenges over at Sweet Stampin' as a means to stretch my wings.  Many of the card makers really make use of embellishments and layers which is a real challenge to me.  I kinda like things simpler which is why I like to play.

This week's challenge has to do with food so I could not resist using this wonderful adorable image by Beary Wishes.

OWH Sketch #144

Just a quick post as I need to run some errands.  Did a flip of the sketch and made a card for the young at heart.  This adorable image is from Starry Nights Studio and can be found here.  I used Copics to color in some of it.  Have a great day!

OWH MWT: Friendship

I have had this sentiment piece floating around for awhile on my table and finally got around to using it.  Just using up some of my scraps.

Mailed out a few Christmas cards to my shipper today to meet the Wednesday 10/31 deadline.  Now I am back to making general cards.

OWH Sketch #143

Happy sunny Sunday!  Another great sketch and this week there is a prize attached from Tonic!

I decided to go patriotic and use some of the border stickers from my stash.  This is a great sketch to use some of those on and I have a few.  After that the card came together pretty easy peasy.

Gotta run!

OWH MWT: Anniversary

As I said in my yesterday's post, this card was started over a week ago...but I ended up putting it aside.  I wasn't sure if it needed a sentiment and other stuff.  After posting my card for this week's challenge, it was time to take some action and "git yer done".

I had purchased the kraft chipboard as part of a pack from Michael's so you may be seeing some butterflies at some point.  I love to use them on sympathy cards...they are a great symbol and so comforting.

OWH MWT: Black, White, and (Green or Red)

I used Sketch 142 for this card...I am totally in love with this one.  Way to go Julie!!!

Sentiment was created on the computer and is similar to one that was available for download from Papercrafts Magazine.  I could not figure out how to just print the one so I created my own.  I was a little concerned that the sentiment is wee bit too big...let me know what you think.  I gotta confess I am partial to computer sentiments...they are always straight(smile).

Last week I did not get around to posting my card for the Anniversary MWT.  I started it and got sidelined.  My plan is to go back and finish it so I can check it off my to-do list.

OWH Sketch #142

What a great day and sketch! We are getting some much needed rain, finally.   I love banners, so I started making a card but decided I did not love it, so I put it aside.

OWH Sketch #141, ODBD, and the Bonus...

Two awesome sketches this week (yay)..after a wonderful blog hop.  I have not made it all the way through as I am taking my time.  For those of you have asked, the Diamond shaped punch I used in my poinsettia card was made by Emagination Crafts Inc; I was lucky to have found it at a fall scrapbooking secondhand sale.

I am so proud of myself on this first card...I used my embossing machine and 4 stamps. When I was adding the smaller circle to the base I forgot that the two circles overlapped each other...not that it is a big deal that I didn't...I guess I was in a zone. I also second generation stamped some of the circles for a little added contrast...have not done that like in forever! I am also linking this card up to the October ODBD challenge: Circles.

I absolutely adore this image by Elizabeth O. Dulemba at Coloring Page Tuesdays which can be found here.  After I colored him, I fussy cut (what was I thinking?) and put him on some fun paper.  Memories of the excitement of watching holiday tv programs were triggered by this one.  Remember when you had to wait a whole year to see a classic rather than being able to pop it in anytime for your viewing pleasure?

OWH WCMD Blog Hop

If you are ready for some great inspiration, please click on the link to go to the "baddest" World Card Making Day event:  http://operationwritehome.org/starsandstamps

Welcome!  The theme of my post is "use your punches"...along with the theme of the hop:  Wintery cards from OWH Sketches.

I have become enamoured with my new-to-me diamond punch that I decided I had to have because of a card by Mary Anne K posted on Sketch #136.  I saw that card and knew that this was a punch that had lots of potential.  I played around with it and ended up with this poinsettia card.  I did cut off the tips on one side of the diamond with a circle punch to reduce bulk.

The second card I cannot take credit for the Christmas Tree idea.  I had saved a picture of a holiday picture frame with no creator details before I knew how important that is.  The garland is made using a round scallop punch.  If you have any questions about either card, let me know.  Happy hopping!

Interested in blog candy?  Check out my earlier post!

OWH WCMD Blog Hop Candy

In an effort to not slow down the happy hopping, we were asked to have a separate post for any blog candy.  I do have some card making "candy".  One winner will be picked from all commenter's randomly.  Included in the candy package is an Inkadinkado (17 pack) Christmas stamp set, We R Memory Keepers Peppermint Twist ribbon, and some Basic Grey brads.

I have two requests:

1. Please share which is your favorite punch in your comment.
2. Please put your email address in your comment using "at" and "dot" to prevent spammers.

Comments must be left by Monday, 10/8/2012 Midnight CDT

We are going to have so much fun!

Birdie Brown: Gnome Boy

OMG...When I saw this image I could not wait to use it.  A super sweet image by Torico at Birdie Brown for this month's Birdie Brown challenge.  To grab the image and play along, please go here: Birdie Brown.  Hope you play!

OWH MWT: Thinking of You

I have this great stamp that I do not remember ever inking up.  I love that the you can be colored to match the base.  I played around and these are my two favorite cards.  This may be a new go-to sentiment stamp.

Both card bases are made from scraps and were already for a sentiment when this challenge popped up.   I like to make the bases when I have the scraps laying on my table..it is easier to coordinate.  I have so much paper that I am developing a "use it or pitch it" attitude and I hate pitching.

The OWH WCMD Hop is tomorrow and I need to review my post one last time and set up info on blog candy. I also need to send a small package of cards in the mail yet today to enter the current card drive.  The PO is closed Monday...eeeck! Happy hopping tomorrow!

OWH Sketch #140

This is my second attempt at this sketch.  I ended up pitching my first card because I tried to add bows on the balloon and things got messy.  I  should have left well enough alone.  I am still working with these great stickers.  I used the borders from two different sets...they went so good together.
